All Public School children of the Parish in grades 1st to 8th grade should be attending Religious Education Classes. Students attending Parochial School and preparing for a Sacrament must also register so they can receive proper instruction that will enable them to receive their Sacraments. Classes are held during the school year according to the requirements of the Scranton Diocese.

Please be aware that a full six years in the Religious Education Program is a requirement in order to receive Confirmation. Children must attend First through Sixth grade consecutively. Preparation for the sacrament of Communion is a two year program.

A copy of every child's baptismal certificate is necessary for all new registrations. Classes meet every Sunday Morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Classes are held at Msgr. Mc Hugh Elementary School in Cresco.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

What is it? A program offered for children/students in grades kindergarten through 6th grade that will allow them an opportunity to explore the Word of God in greater detail. As Catholics, we are all called to active, conscious participation in the liturgy and Children’s Liturgy of the Word provides for a more focused environment for children to be able to become more active listeners, andresponders to God’s Word. The celebration of Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a liturgical experience that opens young people to hear and respond to God’s Work in ways that enable them to be nurtured and challenged by it power, and to experience the grace of ongoing conversion.
When will it take place? At the 10:45 Mass, students will be invited to participate in the Children’s Liturgy of the Word program.
Who attends? Any child in grades kindergarten through 6 th grade who wish to take part are welcome.
How does it work? Students will be dismissed from the assembly just prior to the first reading. Teachers will take the students to the cafeteria to explore the Word of God using the Children’s Lectionary and discussion aids. Children will return to their families at the conclusion of the Liturgy of the Word, but prior to the Liturgy of the Eucharist (after the Prayer of the Faithful).
We are always in need of extra adults and teens to help with our children. Please volunteer to be a chaperone, teacher, aid, assistant, or a spiritual friend.
